2017 Cafe De Romans

For this class called Drama, the unit is called Doll. What we learned during this unit was about a play called The Doll House. We learned who and what a doll is. In the context of this play a doll is a person who thinks someone else is higher than they are. For our AP we had to write a play script and we had to record it. We formed a group of three people and chose three characters. My group was  PVUMJF and me One person was Nora from the play, a second was PVU, an actual person from our group, and the third was a Michelle Obama, a female who changed history. The aspect of my project that I liked most was making the script. The aspect I had the most trouble with was recording the script. I overcame that by taking my time and not mumbling my words. Below you can watch my video and read the script.



I think that men and women should have to same roles and opportunities in life. I think that they should have the same benefits in life. Men and Women are all humans, and they should be treated the same.  Granted, women can do some things, like bearing children, that men cannot do and there are other things that men can do, but in the end men and women are equal. Therefore, they should share the roles in the house splitting all the roles that it takes to run a household. Men and Women should also share roles equally if they have children. There is no household role that cannot be done by both. Overall I think we are getting better at this, but we still have a way to go.  Over the years the roles will become more equal than they are today.

(Door opens. The audience sees Michelle walk in.)
(Door closes with a soft bang.)
(She goes up to the counter to order coffee.)
(Michelle looks around to see if a place to sit is open.)  

    
(Nora walks in and orders coffee.)

Nora
Michelle, is that you? Wow! I have not seen you in forever.
          
Michelle
Oh wow, hey, Nora how are you?

(Paul, who has been sitting down, decides to join the conversation.)                 

Paul
Michelle, Nora, wow, what a small world.

(Michelle and Nora recognize Paul and go over to him)
Michelle                     
Hey, Paul!

I am doing a campaign, and wanted to know since you guys are here what you thought of it.

Paul
Sure
(Nora looks with hesitation but agrees to do so.)

End of scene 1

Scene 2 starts

(The scene starts as we see Paul, Michelle and Nora sitting down drinking coffee.)

(Michelle pulls out some papers and hands them to Paul and Nora.)

Michelle
It is about if men and women should have different roles in society but have to same benefits to the same jobs. I think men and woman should have the same roles in society of course because we've been working towards achieve rights already.

Paul
You know I agree with you. I strongly agree with Michelle for many reasons. I believe in equality and Michelle brings up prime examples of ways we can make everyone equal.

Nora
Well I kind of don’t agree with you guys

(Nora says while moving her coffee cup around the table)

Michelle
Why don’t you agree with it. I accustomed that you would have.

          
(Nora was not saying anything for a little bit, but then.)
          
              
Nora
I think men should have higher jobs than us, well that's what my husband says.

Paul
Your husband sounds wicked and imprudent

Michelle
That does not explain why you don’t want men and women to be equal.

Paul                      
Michelle is right, but I am still precarious.
Nora
Why are you guys disagreeing with me. I am right. Why are you speaking nonsense.


(Nora shoots them a look)
(Nora looked up at the ceiling, then back down.)
              

(Nora handing the paper back to Michelle)

Michelle
I know I’m being expedient but you’re not even going to take a look at my campaign?

(Nora shoving the papers back to Michelle)

Paul
Yea, I mean men and women should have the same benefits and be equal but not the same jobs.

Nora
Why are you guys against me, why.

(She says while pacing around)

Michelle
Nora I have patience for you.  Don’t get mad. We are not against you, but men and women should have to same jobs.

Nora
Yea but it causes conflict.

Ending

(Paul and Michelle disagree with Nora)

Nora
I am done with you guys! Don’t you see there is no problem with men being more superior!!

Paul
Don’t leave Nora I’m not trying to be a nuisance! We are just stating our opinion! It is unsavory to think this way. I think you should really consider what we are saying. It does not make sense that one gender should be more valuable. Please just let it sink into your head.

Michelle
Nora, I am sorry. I realize that you are prone to being capricious but I think that you’re just brainwashed. You need to see that us women have to be equal to everyone else! We have to stick together and help fight for equality. Please stay and talk about what you are thinking and feeling. Don’t be so imprudent and tactless!

Nora
NO!! I am done with you guys! Goodbye!

OCD In You!

This course was called Disease which is a STEAM the unit was called Mind. In this unit, we learned about mental disease. We learned about what mental diseases there are and how to diagnose them. We learned about the brain waves and how each can work or not work with some mental diseases or disorders. For this AP, we had to find a disease and make a video, and a simulation of it. The disease I did was OCD. We had to present out project on Wednesday February 8. The thing that I excelled at was the video and presenting part. The part that I had trouble with the most was trying to find and create a simulation. I overcame that by looking up case studies and examples of OCD simulations. Overall this Action Project was great I learned some many things about OCD and how it gets diagnose. Watching the videos of the simulation really helped me think of ways to make the class feel what people with OCD feel everyday. Also by reading some articles about kids who have OCD and watching a video about Howie Mandel and his life with OCD helped a lot too. Look below to see my project!

When Does Self Defense Become Assault?

In this first class called Forbidden Books the unit is called Politics. We learned forbidden books, why they were banned, and how they were banned. We read a book called fahrenheit 451, it is about a guy named Guy who is lives in a future world. He is a fireman and what firemen do for their jobs is burn books. He gets a conflict because he wants to keep and read the books. On Wednesday we went to a book store called Women and Children's first. For this AP, we had to have a dialogue about a subject we choose with a partner. My partner was PVU, our dialogue was about when does self defense become assault? If you want to see his blog just click on his name. We had to make a video around two to four minutes. The thing that I had trouble with the most was making the video, I over came that by not going fast while I talked. The thing I have to most fun at was making the whole project with my partner. Overall I thought that this was a fun project to make and I hope you enjoy my project that I did with my partner. The Socratic method can be considered dangerous because people can ask to many question. It can change your mind even when you don't want it to.

"Saving Private Ryan

For our elective term, I was in a class called Ollywood. Since it was only for 5 weeks we had 1 unit. I learned many things in this class. One of the things I learned is that you don't need expensive equipment to make a movie; for example, there is a short film called Framed that was shot just from an iphone 4s. We also learned what a Production designer, Executive producer, and many more movie roles are and what each does. What we had to do for this AP is choose a movie to watch, watch it, then make a video explaining why we liked it or hated it. We had to analyze the lighting and what edits were good or bad about it. I had two partners for this, MN and GS; you should check out their blogs. What I like about this project was watching my favorite movie, Saving Private Ryan, and looking and finding how and what edits were good. What was hard for me was recording because I don't like my voice when I hear a recording of it.

Wood Bison Are They Good Or Not?

For the first class for the year, for STEAM we are in the last Population unit. In unit 3, we went through a journey to learn about our population and how it is growing. We examined the evidence for our population and other species. Seeing how much their population had years ago compare to now. We went to a cemetery to examine what year people die and what year people were born. We had to compare the dates of when people were born and see how many people died for a specific year. The last AP was about finding an organism and compare it to humans population. I chose Bisons for my organism. The thing that I had the most trouble with was the recording because I am self-conscious of my voice and when I record, I always talk faster than I normally do. What I did to overcome it was read clearly and not to speak quickly. The thing that I was most proud of was the math part, graph and finding the facts of the Action Project because I could understand that part and do a good job on it.

The North Pole

For the first class for the year, for STEAM we are in the second population unit. In unit 2, we went through a journey to learn where we were from. This unit introduces Darwin and his theories on Natural Selection as a mechanism for evolution. We examined the evidence for Evolution and came to understand how changes are selected. The thing that I had the most trouble with was the recording because I am self-conscious of my voice and when I record, I always talk faster than I normally do. What I did to overcome it was read clearly and not to speak fast. The thing that I was most proud of was the math part of the Action Project because I could understand that part and do a good job on it.

Standard Deviation= 14.05

Since this set of animals has a standard deviation of around 14, this means that the whole group is 14.05.

When we choose animals from a group, I choose dogs for my animal. We had to choose 3 out of 10 who we think will survive in the new environment and pass on their genetic traits. The are two ways for choosing them for the North Pole. The first is Combination. A combination is where order does not matter. Another way is Permutation, which is where order does matter.

GMOs Are They Bad Or Good

In the STEAM course "Food" we are learning about GMOs and if they are bad or good. We also learned about the mathematics of GMOs data. We also had to examine different sides of the GMO debate. For the project we had to research our position and write a convincing argument. I like how the end results of my data turned out. I also like the graph that we had to do. What I am proud of is my whole video in all. The one thing that I could have done better was talk much lower in the video. I also thought that I could have practiced a little more before I made my video. For the graph my two dates were 1998 and 1999 there was a 8.6% change going up between the two dates. 8.6% change going up.
What this means is the 8.6% change in diabetes.

This graph represents that the soy and corn crops are going higher but diabetes is going up higher with GMOs in foods. These both have to do with each other because the GMO’s can lead to diabetes. The red is how high it is going for the rate of food with GMO’s in them from farms. Imagine that a little kid had allergies and ate GMO’s and died. This could happen because GMO’s can make new allergies and maybe kids who already have allergies can maybe get another as opposed to someone who doesn't consume GMOs.
